Windows to the Mind

There is an old saying that goes: The eyes are the windows to the soul. Another saying is, seeing is believing. But not everything one sees is to be believed. What do I mean by that? – you might ask.

Let’s start with the dream I had a few nights ago. I was sitting on a pew bench. It was one of the wooden pews you would get in older churches. I, as well as two other ladies, sat on this bench, right at the back of this great hall. I could see other people moving around in the hall. The lady next to me was a close friend to me and behaved friendly to me, and the other lady. I didn’t know the other lady, who sat closer to the other end of the bench. The lady next to me got up, and I decided to make friends with the other lady. She scampered away from me, and in her eyes, I saw fear, then pure hatred. I reached out to introduced myself. That was when she attacked me! She sat on top of me, scratching my right eye. Next, I was standing in front of a mirror and looked at my now sore eye. It was just reddened on my eyelid…

What does all this mean? All these people in this great hall were the different denominations and all Christian organisations. I represent the church or ministry. We are all in this together. Me being friendly to another church (or church group) is nothing unusual in today’s world. Reaching out is what churches do. But here the warning lies to all churches because there were at first fear, then open hostility in her eyes.

So, who is this other woman and what does this mean for true Christ-followers. I’ll say this first: in Zechariah 11:16-17 (KJV)  it says, “For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.” This woman (church group/ministry) will pretend to be Christian but eventually will show her true colours. They will be rich, and most likely speak eloquently, but will fail in looking after the community. The fact that she was scared when she saw me was the fact that should give her away. The bible clearly states 365 times to “Fear Not.”

Attacking a fellow Church or Ministry groups is NOT the Christian way. She tried to scratch my eye out. This is different from the text above. She was trying to blind the true church. Why? We read in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (KJV) that, “…if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” Luke teaches us that “The light of the body is the eye: therefore, when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness” (Luke 11:34, KJV).  This, therefore, is a spiritual blinding of church members. Although she didn’t succeed in her effort, she did cause damage though…

The only way we can fight this then will be through discernment. Discernment is the ability to judge well. And we can only do so by reading the Word of God. Watch out what you watch, and also what you believe. You need to remember that the evil one Hates the church. Always weigh everything, you hear and see, up against the bible.

  1. Juanita, because you study God’s Word you will be under attack not only from Satan but also who do not know God’s Words and who like their ears to be tickled. Remember, God always has the last say – Jesus broke his power when He rose from the dead. Don’t let anything discourage you / be prepared. Please read the following words very seriously….. “and once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey HIM” (Hebrews 5:9). It’s all about obedience. Fight the good fight! You have a key in your hand , Use it!

    1. I know. This dream wasn’t meant for me but for ALL who follow Christ. It was meant as warning to prepare ourselves against this attack. It will be coming from them that pretend to be Christian. But if you look at their works and attitude you’ll see that they’re not. That is why we need to know and stand in the Word of God.

  2. I agree with your reply to the first poster, Juanita. Some dreams happen to prepare us. Before my last husband passed away. I remember having a strange dream the night before our wedding. I dreamed that I was sobbing and my father was holding me in his arms and comforting me while I cried. And my father had passed away six years before.

My late husband and I got married that afternoon. Less than two weeks later, he died very tragically and it was one of the worst things I’d ever dealt with. The Lord was the only One who carried me through. Thank you so much for this post.

    1. Sorry to hear about your loss, Cherie. May the Lord bring comfort to your heart.
The Lord prepare us for the battles lying ahead and we all need to take heed. Looking at the world and all the issues arising we surely need more warnings…
And as you mentioned, the Lord will carry all of us even through this.
Thank you for the comment. God bless.
