To heavens above
Ezekiel 1:22 (KJV)- the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
A firmament is the heavens or sky, that is stretching out over their heads. It is interesting to see that Ezekiel didn’t specify the real colour of this crystal. And I wish not to speculate…
Ezekiel 1:24 (KJV)-And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. 25-And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
Won’t it be wonderful to hear our Creator revealing Himself to the world? Whenever I think about the rapture, this is how I imagine it: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Not a disappearing act that no one will know where you are.
Ezekiel 1:26 (KJV)-And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27-And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
A similar depiction of the throne can be found in Revelations 4, describing the throne as “a sardine stone,” and the One that sits on this thrown are described as “like a jasper” (verse 3, KJV). The One [Jesus] on the throne’s voice are “lightnings and thunderings and voices” (verse 5).
Ezekiel 1:28(KJV)-As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
Coming full circle, for when God placed the rainbow in the sky as covenant He made with Noah, He said: “And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh…”
In Revelations 11:6 (KJV) we learn that heaven will be shut from any rain and the waters itself would turn to blood. We now move from the beginning of the Word to the end. Revelation 14:14-15 (KJV), “And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on His head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap; for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
The bow in Ezekiel could be the same weapon in Revelation. Both are circular weapons. Jesus will be coming on the clouds, in the day of rain, crowned in glory. What great news this is. Mark 14:62 (KJV), “And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”
More text verses referring to Jesus coming in the clouds and the sickle He will use:
Daniel 7:13-14 (KJV), “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”
Joel 3:13-14 (KJV), “put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.”
Are you ready for the harvest time?
